Meet Vinod Kumar, Senior Plant Manager, Flexibles Packaging

Vinod Kumar’s journey with Huhtamaki began with a walk-in interview he saw in a local newspaper. What started as a simple opportunity has grown into a 28-year career defined by continuous learning and development. Today, Vinod works as a Senior Plant Manager in the Flexibles segment. 

He began at a newly established site near Mumbai, India, working hands-on with flexible packaging operations. From the start, his curiosity and drive to improve processes helped him take on increasing responsibility. 

“The opportunities to learn and grow have been tremendous,” he says. “For me, it’s not just about reaching targets, but it’s about working with people and leaving things better than I found them.” 

Growing through experience 

Over the years, Vinod has had the opportunity to take on a wide range of roles across operations, quality, and customer engagement, each adding to his skillset. Along the way, he embraced new challenges, from managing teams in different environments to leading key operational improvements.

Throughout his career, Vinod highlights the role of strong support systems, mentorship, and opportunities to take on new challenges. At Huhtamaki, he has been encouraged to grow across roles, build new capabilities, and expand his impact. Vinod also attributes his success to the support his family has given him during these transitions 

“Taking care of people is just as important as improving processes,” he says. “When you do both, you achieve better results.” 

Looking ahead 

Now leading the Silvassa site in India, Vinod continues to focus on strengthening operations, developing teams, and driving continuous improvement. 

“It’s been a full-circle journey,” he says. “And there’s always more to learn.”
