India is a key market for Huhtamaki, with 11 production sites and close to 2,500 employees serving customers across the country. As part of our ongoing dialogue with stakeholders in the market, Huhtamaki participated in a high-level Finland-India business roundtable in Helsinki, Finland, on July 16, 2026, organised in connection with the visit of India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.
The event brought together Finnish and Indian business leaders and government representatives to discuss opportunities for strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Huhtamaki was represented by Riikka Tieaho, EVP, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs & Legal, and General Counsel, who commented:
“The roundtable provided a valuable opportunity to engage with Finnish and Indian business leaders and government representatives to discuss topics relevant to our business. We see continued opportunities for growth and collaboration in the market and remain committed to developing our presence and partnerships in India."
The roundtable forms part of Huhtamaki's broader engagement with stakeholders in India. In recent years, Huhtamaki has worked closely with industry partners, policymakers, and other stakeholders on topics related to sustainability, circularity, and the future of packaging.
One example is Think Circle India, which Huhtamaki co-organized together with the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi in January 2025. The initiative brought together business leaders, policymakers, academics, NGOs, and other stakeholders to discuss practical solutions for advancing packaging circularity and recycling in India.
